And teaching these classes was too much fun to forget them. The final cluster at the top left uses a word sticker, a circle I cut from card stock and a bling star.Īdding this bit of ephemera to my scrapbook tells a story with details I would have forgotten. And one of the die cuts from the paper line was just perfect for the circle shape. In the bottom cluster the 3 flags acts as my rectangle shape. Repeating shapes helps to make the layout look cohesive. I decided to use at least one circle, rectangle and star bling in each of the clusters. The words on the card are actually part of the title “Do more of what makes you happy and remember today.” There was a bit of dead space at the top right corner – the perfect place to create an embellishment cluster. The 4×6 card is one of the cut a parts from the paper line and the words on it fit perfectly for the theme of this page. I love the big statement the 4×6 card makes. ![]() The article was simple type without much visual interest, so I decided to go bold with the embellishments. I just love how these hearts frame the layout. I cut the green card stock to allow one heart to show all around the page. The newspaper clipping and embellishment clusters all reside on the green card stock which is mounted on a heart print paper. You can find other layouts using the faux frame technique by clicking here. This layout uses the faux frame technique to draw your eye to the newspaper clipping. If you’d like to have the article around for generations to come consider photocopying the article and using the photocopy on your layout or one of the many products that will neutralize the acid in the newspaper. I’ve had some newspaper clippings in an album for over 30 years with no issues. ![]() I simply wanted to add this article as a memory for myself. I don’t mind when the newspaper turns yellow and I’m not attempting to preserve this story for generations to come. There are a number of products on the market to help preserve newspaper clippings, however I chose not to use them. Adding bits and pieces, like newspaper clippings, to your scrapbook helps to tell your story. On this scrapbook layout I added an article clipped from my local newspaper about a scrapbook class I taught at my local library. Adding newspaper clippings, brochures, and tickets are just a few examples of ephemera that help record your life. Hello! Scrapbooking is capturing memories and sometimes those memories aren’t photos.
